Thursday ride to the Old Royal Ship at Luckington 20 October 2011
Before starting off John Turton explained the route in meticulous detail to the peloton - although everybody just remembered it as "follow me".
Good to see John back out again after combined radio therapy and hormone treatment. The hormones combat the effect of testosterone, a problem for Alpha males!
After climbing Redfield Hill we descended Beach Hill. I am glad we did not have to climb this one. This brought us out on Golden Valley Road via a route that many have never taken before.
After climbing Cock Lane to by-pass Hinton Hill we took Field Lane to West Littleton which involved crossing the busy A46, often a scary experience.
The sun shone brightly all morning but the temperature stayed low. Plenty of hills kept us warm.
After leaving the Old Royal Ship at Luckington we rode along Luckington Lane past the Beaufort estate to Badminton. This is always a favourite lane for cyclists although the motorist who stuffed their car into the bank probably does not care much for it.
The sky was cloudy in the afternoon but no rain alll day.
